Polar Sea’s in-depth knowledge of the areas we travel in comes in
great part from the fact that we live here. Nearly all our guides are
Inuit, most born and raised "on the land", some
even born in either an igloo or animal skin tent. Clients safety is our
number one concern and with such guides, you will be in the best possible
hands. All Polar Sea staff have an intimate knowledge of the land, ocean,
mountains, rivers, lakes and tundra. Together with quality equipment and
great attention to detail, you will be taken care of every step of the
way.
We try to keep trip group sizes small. Not only are we aware of the effect
of any activity on the fragile Arctic landscape, but we appreciate that
one of the main reasons clients travel to this part of the world with
Polar Sea, is to "get away from it all". Presently, Polar Sea
is the only company licenced to operate commercially in Sirmilik National
Park, located in North Baffin Island. We take this licencing seriously and feel a great responsibility
to ensure that the park (and all other areas not necessarily within the
park) are treated with respect and care.
Polar Sea is aware and appreciates there are a great many individuals
experienced and qualified to travel in wilderness areas. Each year we
help many such individuals put together trips and expeditions; providing
logistics, local information (not necessarily found in books or on the
web) help and advice. If there is any further information you’d
like, that is not contained within this website, please let us know.
